We had a face-to-face meeting with the Permanent Secretary and Director of Migration and Diaspora of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians abroad to unveil a strategic plan that our organization wishes to explore starting this year. We shared our organizational plans, discussed common objectives, and strategized on potential collaborations to address challenges encountered by Gambians in both The Gambia and Italy, as well as across Europe. We also made a follow-up on our draft Memorandum of Agreement(MoA) that we sent to the Ministry on the 14th February, 2023.
A quick check in on students at the University of Padova 16/01/2024
In our move to bring all Gambians in academia under one umbrella in Italy, our top priority is to continue mapping and reaching out to Gambians who are in Italy to pursue their studies.
We affirm our willingness to meet not only students/academics but also Gambians who are in other walks of life trying to pursue their careers or make ends meet.
During the meeting, we shared our plans, discussed our common objectives in line with our constitution and plan on how to work together as students/academics to address our common challenges both in The Gambian and in Italy as well as in Europe

Gambian students and researchers in Italy: a milestone reached
The Gambian-Italian Association of Students and Researchers (GIASR) is a non-profit organization registered in Italy on 22nd November 2022. The main goal of GIASR is to improve existing migration management challenges through active participation in both Italy and The Gambia. GIASR believes its establishment highlights the possibility to co-create together a bright and sustainable future. Accordingly, any such future can only be achieved through discussion tables, systemic co-designing, evaluation, and implementation of project-programmes aimed at common interests of all relevant stakeholders within the migration ecology… Read More
